Cultural tour on the European Day of Megalithic Culture – Emsland, Germany

On the last weekend of April, 29th and 30th, the European Day of Megalithic Culture took place. This year’s motto was “Megalithic Monuments – Past and Present”.

Megalithic tombs play a significant role in the history of the Emsland, also the Emsland coat of arms depicts a megalithic tomb as a sign of early settlement.

The Hümmling Nature Park offered a guided tour “By bike to the Stone Age” on April 30, 2023 from 13:00. The tour led to the stone circle near Werpeloh and to the stone graves in Spahner Südholz as well as to Clemenswerth Castle. After a small tea break in Hedwigswald, the tour continued with a visit to the history workshop in Sögel.”
