Welcome to the Megalithic Day Saturday 29 April at 14-15! – Sweden
Megalithic Lundaland is a Leader project in Kävlinge municipality and Lundalan in Sweden with the aim of highlighting our graves and monuments from the Neolithic Age!
Those who are interested in history and our megalithic monuments are invited to
participate in the celebration of the European day of Megalithic culture on Saturday 29 April 2023!
Location: Megalithic tomb and passageway at Gillhög.
Day: Saturday 29 April 14-15 pm
Directions: Pinhättevägen/Backagårdsvägen, Barsebäck.
Position: 55.762611, 12.946417
The theme for the day is: “Testimonies of past and future”.
We will meet at 14:00 at Gillhög, one of Skåne’s best preserved sites, whose dominant location on Öresund meant that it long served as a landmark for seafarers.
The day is the kickoff for a new Leader project Megalithic Lundaland, which will
make Lundaland’s exciting megalithic monuments accessible and bring them to life.
We will talk about the important roles these fantastic historical buildings have played and national fiddler Erik Ask-Upmark offers his interpretation of music from the Stone Age.
We have also chosen this day to highlight the historical podcast about the history of the Kävlingeån. The podcast describes the history of the river in ten exciting and easily accessible informative episodes and is available on Spotify.
The international European day of Megalithic culture is celebrated every year across Europe in late April.
A warm welcome to all!
