European Day of Megalithic Culture in Södervidinge, Scania, 2024
On the 27th of april the project Megalithic Lundaland organized an event at Södervidinge, Scania, to celebrate the European Day of Megalithic Culture. Project owner Mats Rosén and project manager Estelle Nambord hosted the event.
At the site in Södervidinge there is one passage grave and two burial mounds. The two burial mounds have recently been subject for field scanning requested by the project. The purpose of the scanning is to see if there are megalithic structures under the mounds. We are eagerly awaiting the result.
Apart from the above stated, Södervidinge was chosen as the location for the event because it is a place that fitted this year’s theme, Megalithis as landmarks, well. The location is on high ground and you can see surrounding graves from both the Stone and Bronze Ages.
About 30 people attended the event. They were taken on a historical walk between the monuments and the event ended with classic Swedish fika outdoors in the spring sunshine.
Megalitic Lundaland is a Leader project within Kävlinge municipality, funded through Leader Lundaland by the EU, the Swedish state through the Swedish Board of Agriculture and Kävlinge municipality.
