Naturtejo Geopark of the South Plateau Unesco
Naturtejo Global Geopark, a territory uniting the municipalities of Castelo Branco, Idanhaa-Nova, Nisa, Oleiros, Penamacor, Proença-a-Nova and Vila Velha de Ródão, has aims goals to value the places that act as key- evidences of the Earth History, boosting the sustainable and responsible tourism and promoting the local communities. The great geomorphological, geological, paleontological, and geomining heritage sheltered in a multimillenary cultural landscape show elements of national and international relevance reflected in a History full of episodes and in a rural Culture with unique elements, where pagan, Roman, Arab, Jewish and Christian influences blend themselves.
